Data controller
Under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), the data controller is Ankara University Faculty of Communication — radyoilef (Cebeci Campus, Ankara).
What data is processed?
This site has no accounts, sessions or database. Personal data is processed only in the following cases:
- Contact form: the name, e-mail address, subject and message you submit are forwarded directly to radyoilef's e-mail address without being stored on the server. To protect the form from automated software, the contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile verification; during verification your browser sends technical information (IP address, browser details) to Cloudflare.
- Abuse prevention: to stop many submissions from the same address, an irreversible hash of your IP address is kept for at most 1 hour; the IP address itself is not stored.
- Server logs: the web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser) for security and troubleshooting.
- Visit statistics: to improve the site and spot technical problems early (e.g. failing to connect to the stream), page views and a few events (liking a song, podcast listening, stream errors, embedded player use, form submissions) are counted with Umami, a cookie-free tool running on our own server (i.ilef.net). IP addresses are not stored and the data is not shared. See the Cookie Policy for details.
- Stream diagnostics: tests run only in your browser. Results reach us only if you choose to send them with your own e-mail app.
Data kept on your device
Your liked songs, theme, volume and text size preferences are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never sent to our server. You can remove them by clearing your browser data.
Purposes and legal basis
- Responding to your contact requests (KVKK art. 5/1 consent and art. 5/2-f legitimate interest)
- Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse (art. 5/2-f)
- Improving the site and monitoring stream errors (art. 5/2-f)
- Fulfilling legal obligations (art. 5/2-ç)
Third parties
- Podcast episodes are played from Spotify for Podcasters (Anchor) servers; when you play an episode your browser connects to them.
- The live stream is served from radyoilef's own streaming server (Icecast).
- Short biographies of artists not in our list are fetched by our server from Wikipedia (English summaries are translated into Turkish with DeepL when no Turkish article exists), and covers for songs without an artist photo from Apple iTunes (only the artist and song title are sent); covers are stored and served from our server, your browser never connects to these services and no data about you is shared.
- The site does not use Google Fonts, Google Analytics or any advertising service; visit statistics are kept cookie-free with Umami on our own server.
Your rights
Under art. 11 of the KVKK you have the right to learn whether your data is processed, request information, ask for correction or deletion, and object.
