history

Ankara University Radio began broadcasting on 8 May 1982 as a closed-circuit station. On 22 November 1994 it went on air on FM 97.5 under the name Radyo Radyo, with a 100-watt transmitter. Although Radyo Radyo met the training needs of the Faculty of Communication, it was interrupted many times by legal and technical difficulties.

Having reached 24-hour broadcasting, Radyo Radyo continued on FM 105.8 from January 1998. Focusing on international music, it soon became one of the most loved stations among university students and across Ankara. Under Law No. 4756, which granted universities broadcasting rights, Ankara University Radio returned to the air on 8 May 2005 on FM 91.0 as radyoilef.
